Regarding the themes of maritime sustainable development, security and safety, since its creation in 2005, the Provence Alpes Côte d’Azur Marine Competitivity Centre has mainly developed its action in the coastal areas of the departments of the Alpes-Maritimes, Var and Bouches-du-Rhône.

It is based on the R&D area, classification by the Ministry of Economy, Finances and Industry, approved by the Council of State, which identifies territories eligible for certain financial aid, in relation to the Competitivity Centres.

Today, the Marine Centre is expanding its territorial coverage towards Languedoc-Roussillon and Corsica. For each thematic area, these new territories add a complimentary dimension to that already integrated in the Centre.

In its opening strategy, the Marine Centre invites the French overseas territories to find again in the PACA Region an exceptional experimentation field to handle their marine concerns. In the future, the PACA Marine Centre intends to complete its territorial rooting with the creation of several symbolic areas. The Sea Technopole, established on the territory of the Agglomeration Community of Toulon Provence Méditerranée, will be the first jewel of this ambitious programme.
