Sustainable operation and coexistence
The PACA Marine Competitivity Centre is seeking to develop a policy which incorporate different modes of biological marine resources operations to ensure the sustainable integration of fishery, aquaculture and biotechnological activities.

The Mediterranean has an abundance of biological, animal and vegetal resources, which are highly sought after by a number of exploitation industries constantly in pursuit of quality and quantity.
The Sea Innovation and Business cluster wants to optimize the potential of the Provence Alpes Côte d’Azur coast, above all for its traditional fishing activities but also for innovative aquaculture activities. The aim is to target a market for each of these sectors and to adapt operations to propose the best offer, without sacrificing quality for quantity.
Moreover, the PACA Marine Competitivity Centre is capitalizing on local biotechnological know-how in order to best integrate its competences in a wide variety of marine development projects.
In a differentiated market context, the challenge lies in the full mastery of the development of all types of marine resource exploitation.
The future of fishing activities and fish farming is closely linked to a well-managed and sustainable exploitation of resources as well as maintaining a fair balance between these two activity sectors. Moreover, this requires a harmonious coexistence with the other economic sectors of the region (tourism, industrial development, etc).
For the Sea Innovation and Business cluster, the mastery of maritime developments also requires an intimate knowledge of its environment and its potential; in this regard the marine cluster supports several supplementary programs for the constitution of database related to biological and chemical information.
To consolidate its regional action, the marine cluster seeks to open up to actors of the entire Mediterranean coast for the shared interest in the exploitation of marine biological resources, especially in the Languedoc-Roussillon region and Corsica but also in the DOM-TOM (french overseas administrative departments and territories).
